On Wednesday afternoon I was called by Talksport and asked whether or not Nick would be available for a late night slot that night. At the time Nick was still on his way back from Prague, but I managed to get hold of him and despite the fact that he would have been travelling all day he agreed to appear. Some thirty minutes later the chap from TalkSport rang again to apologise for the fact that his boss was concentrating on the Jonathan Ross/Russell Brand story and that Nick was no longer required that day.
Speaking of the Jonathan Ross story, everybody else seems to have an opinion on it so I might as well chip in myself. I have no time for Russell Brand who half of the time seems to be chemically assisted, however Jonathan Ross is one of the few genuinely funny people broadcasting today. Yes, he has done wrong and yes is is overpaid, but I do hope that he can overcome this.
The result from the Allerdale by-election involving the BNP's Clive Jefferson came in today. Knowing Clive he would have put in a lot of hard work in his campaign and to score over 20% in the current Tory/Labour squeeze conditions is an excellent achievement. If Cumbria returns just half that level of support for the BNP in just over six months time, then we are in business.
BNP support is illustrated in the latest YouGov poll published today in the Daily Telegraph. It wasn't so long ago that we never registered at all in national opinion polls so don't be too disheartened by that 2% figure. I remember that support was consistently between 0-1% before the 2004 European elections with this discrepancy being explained by people's fear of declaring their support for us. If you click on the graphic below it will take you to the full polling results, which illustrate an underlying trend of public distrust of "mainstream" politicians.

A bit of BNP-related drama over in the Emerald Isle is reported in the Irish Times this morning:
MINISTER OF State for Integration Conor Lenihan has retracted his use of the word “fascist” in the Dáil when he heckled Fine Gael TD Leo Varadkar during Wednesday’s session...
Earlier Mr Lenihan, speaking on RTÉ Radio’s Today with Pat Kenny, said that his comments were directed at Mr Varadkar because comments that he made about immigration were similar to those made by the British National Party (BNP).
“I obviously do not think that Leo Varadkar is a fascist although he advocates policies that are close to the BNP,” he said.
He was referring to Mr Varadkar’s suggestion to give unemployed immigrants an incentive to return to their home countries. Mr Varadkar has rejected any suggestion that his views or policy ideas are close to those of the BNP.
Moving further afield I must share with you this photograph of what appears to be a new species of South American cat. The photograph taken recently by Aldo Sornoza of Fundación Jocotoco who was helping with the construction of the new visitors’ lodge on the Jorupe Reserve, Ecuador. It is thought to be a new species of cat, still to be described, which was first seen two years ago in Peru. The Jorupe Reserve is near to the border with Peru and this would be the first known sighting in Ecuador. If not a new species, it could possibly be an Andean Cat (Oreailurus jacobita), one of the rarest of all the cat species, about which hardly anything is known.

Closer to home there is currently a snowy owl flying around the Isles of Scilly the first time one has been recorded there since 1972. Meanwhile in Kent a green heron has been blown across the Atlantic and is currently wowing the twitchers on West Hythe's Royal Military Canal in Kent.

I must confess that ever since a larger grey heron carried out a multiple piscicide on my golden orfe, they have not been my favourite birds. However this one looks harmless enough and one or two of our members have Koi carp big enough to give it a run for its money.

How you can defend Woss is beyond me Simon, it was Woss who called for more ethnic workers at the BBC and within a year they had 50% ethnic quotas for top jobs.
I take it you were not aware of this?
Ross on his radio show: 'How many black people have they got working on proper shows there? You know the BBC still haven't really come up to speed. I mean they are trying, God bless them.
'Most of the guys you see there are either working on the door, carrying a cloth in there and cleaning up. We haven't really made the effort yet.'
This is the straw that broke the camels back. People just needed the right situation to have a go at the BBC. This was just perfect. People are sick of the TV licence fee, of the BBC not operating impartialy on the political scene, of their obsession with political correctness. Having shows like question time and not being inclusive of all parties, especially when they are giving said party a battering. Ross and the other fella have done the hard working person in the street a big favour.
A very interesting pole. You’re quite right about people not wanting to declare their support for the BNP, hence the 2% which should be closer to 10%
It also shows that whist the voters don’t like Labour or trust Brown they are hardly enthusiastic about the Tories. If the BNP can break the ‘no platform’ embargo and get slightly less biased media reporting then there would be massive progress.
I've never been a fan of "Wossy".
I think his humour is juvanile and he's full of his own self importance - as is Brand.
Having read the comments above, I am even more convinced the media would be better off without both of them.
Regardless of his politics (think he almost came out for labour ON AIR once!)I'll miss Rossie too. He's likeable and funny. It's not just him but the music his assistant Andy Davies selects for his Radio 2 Saturday morning programme. I'm going to miss the tunes, the humour and banter.
I think the beeb went way over the top and Manuel and the Satanic Sluts have had publicity beyond their wildest dreams.
All systems go for tomorrows 'STOP THE BILLESLEY MOSQUE' demo at 713 Yardley Wood Road, B13.
We have members coming from all four corners of the West Midlands and even further afield, the locals have been on the phone all week so by ko time tomorrow (noon) there should be plenty of people about.
We knocked up a very professional looking leaflet (cheers Jimbo) last night and today my partner and I printed off 1,000 leaflets on 'gold' coloured paper which we are now in the process of folding.
The real cherry on the cake was at two o'clock this afternoon when we had a call from a venue in Billesley itself saying that they were 'quite happy' for us to hold a BNP meeting on their premises (lets just say it is 'literally' within spitting distance of the site of the preposed mosque) and with our profile in the local area through the roof at the moment this is another opportunity for us to prove to local residents that we are the only party out there that genuinely stands up for local people and local interests. Come on!
Banner packed, leaflets boxed, flags ready, poppy boxes sorted, lifts arranged, etc, etc, logistically getting everything sorted is a Weston-Super (mare) but very much part of the fun.
Waiting for tomorrow is a bit like 'the night before Christmas'when you are a kid, this is deadly serious stuff though and a good turn out of well dressed, well groomed dedicated BNP activists will hopefully show local people that we are deadly serious, capable of organising something very professionally and most certainly worth a vote in June 2009 and May 2010.
Billesley is a good, solid, white working class area in need of investment, we can fight for that and give these people a voice, areas like Billesley desperately need and fully deserve a British National Party councillor, this is a HUGE opportunity for us.
IF ANYONE CAN MAKE IT TO HELP OUT YOUR SUPPORT WOULD BE VERY, VERY MUCH APPRECIATED (713 Yardley Wood Road, Billesley, South Birmingham, B13 OPT).

Though the cat in your picture looks longer and has a red nose.
I wonder if Broadcasting House would be anything other than a pile of smouldering rubble today if Andrew Sachs were Muslim.
Simon.
Another nice bit of BNP TV.
The Chris Beverly speech was very informative and entertaining But those squeeking door hinges could do with a good dose of WD40.
Simon it's just a typical conservation publicity stunt
the cat is the well known Pampas cat

I will remember not to tune into Talksport on Saturday afternoon to listen to the football.
In short, they will no longer be required as there are lots of other outlets covering the football.
Sorry Simon but I must disagree on the Brand Ross affair.
These two are amongst the highest paid entertainers in the country (thanks to the good old uncomplaining taxpayer) and are often quoted as being innovative and cutting edge.
Well, if 'innovative and cutting edge' humour from the top two entertainers amounts to unfunny abusive phone calls then in my opinion something is wrong somewhere. Maybe its me, but could it be that these pair are a teeny weeny bit over-rated?
Ross should resign if only out of guilt for that lady resigning on his behalf.

Wednesday night, Talksport, that would be the Ian Collins show. Let me tell you something about Ian Collins Simon he has an inferiority complex as regards speaking to Nick.
I have emailed and text him winding him up on numerous occasions. Ian Collins has no bottle, its a fact, he's just like Gordon Brown.
Talksport has UKIPS Farage the mirage on every week but Farage just gets a load of abuse with the callers stating that he (Farage) is stealing the BNP clothes. Poor Ian Collins gets in a pickle because he knows Nick would eat him for breakfast and simply does not know how to deal with a proper politician who wears his heart on his sleeve. Nick would not even break out into a sweat against someone like Collins.
Ross and Brand are rock and roll - the BBC are not.
30 odd thousand tabloid reading complaining reactionaries jumping on the bandwagon shows how the minority rule over the majority at the BBC.
Simon,
Its interesting that you find Ross funny and wish him well.
In fact Ross is one the BBCs foremost purveyors of degenerate bilge. In my view, a scumbag of the lowest order.
Perhaps you've failed to notcice too all the subliminae used by the BBC, such as purple backgrounds, yellow stars etc to slip the EU into people heads. Like the verminous, Graham Norton show, for example, and others of a similar nature.
We knuckledraggers out here see it all, and we sincerely you do too.
I think Ross IS a genuinely funny person but he has, of late resorted to self satisfied smut.
Also his remark recently about being worth
one thousand BBC journalists was nauseating.
Had Talksport actually gone ahead with interviewing Nick on Wednesday evening it would have been with George Galloway! He was covering for Ian Collins this week and Collins was covering for Jon Gaunt's morning show. Galloway just makes crude remarks about the BNP and is a boring left wing lunatic. Collins never tries to sound too right wing anymore for fear of being labelled `racist'.

Ecuador is such a diverse country that I would not be surprised if this wild cat is a new species. There's still a lot to know and to discover in this country.
